Katie + Carl: The Wedding Weekend in Hickory, North Carolina
Katie + Carl had such an epic wedding weekend, beginning with a Groom's Brunch at Rockbarn, followed by the rehearsal dinner and dancing the night away at the Hickory Museum of Art. On Saturday they said their vows at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, followed by the reception at 74 South @ Moretz Mills in Hickory, NC.
“Both Carl and I were very touched by the toasts from our friends and family at the rehearsal dinner. I think the most significant moment for me was when Carl ended his toast by looking at me and saying, so sincerely, “I can’t wait for tomorrow.” It seemed to perfectly sum up our faith in one another and the excitement about the next day.”
“One of Carl’s favorite moments from the weekend is when we took pictures in the church courtyard after the ceremony. That was the first time we were really able to spend any time together that day, and we were finally married!”
“My mother had the foresight to put Carl and me in this beautiful booth attached to the bar at Moretz Mills. We got to share our first married meal together in an intimate setting. Plus, the sign that my mother had made to go above the booth left no doubt about where we were supposed to sit! We certainly had the biggest place cards of anyone at the wedding!”
“Carl’s Aunt Laura and Uncle Ned were kind enough to lend us their beautiful vintage 1956 Ford Thunderbird for our get-a-way car. I loved taking photos in it outside of the venue, but the best part of of that experience was when we drove off. Aunt Laura and Uncle Ned had crafted the perfect playlist for us to listen to on our ride home. As cliché as I am sure it sounds, it felt like the final scene of an old Hollywood movie and was certainly the perfect ending to a wonderful day.”
